Citizens have recently reported taste and odor changes in the city's water supply. There is no cause for alarm and the water is safe to drink. These issues occur as the temperature in the city lake changes with the seasons. The city lake has experienced what is known as Lake Turnover. Lake Turnover is a natural process that occurs frequently in lakes with seasonal temperature changes. Lake water has different strata and different temperatures. When the top water cools, it becomes denser and sinks. The process tends to stir up the lake bottom affecting the raw water that comes into the plant. Water Treatment processes have been adjusted to address the taste and odor issues. Water Treatment Plant staff state that the issues should go away by the end of the week.
